Vocational Training and College

FMC Technologies

Vocational Training

The underwater industry prefers skilled labour and employs apprentices in various disciplines such as mechanics, hydraulics, electronics and automation. Skilled workers are employed in workshops, construction and on vessels that install and operate underwater equipment worldwide.

Vocational training leads to a trade certificate. There are several ways to obtain this certificate. Most start with two years in school before they enter into an apprenticeship in a company.

Employees with more than five years of relevant experience are also able to get a trade certificate. They can either sign a contract with a company, or they can do the certificate exam privately.

Vocational College

Vocational college is a training level above high school.

To get accepted into vocational college the student must have a trade certificate in a relevant discipline. One can also apply for admission based on qualifications.

Bergen Maritme Fagskole offers education on subsea installations.
